Does God speak to people today, and if so, how can I hear His voice?

We know God has spoken through His Word, the Bible -- but does God speak to people in a personal way apart from the Scriptures today?  Even a casual reading of the Bible reveals that all the way back to Adam and on up to the New Testament people have heard the voice of God instructing them to do things. But it is commonly taught that once the Scriptures were completed that God only speaks to people today through His Word.
Is it Scriptural to teach God speaks to people apart from the Bible today?

This is a topic that stirs a lot of controversy in some Christian circles -- but one that needs to be explored. Be sure to join us Sunday for what I believe will be a very informative look at a very important topic.

Family Conference -- Saturday, January 25, 6-9 pm

If you haven't yet, be sure to register for our Family Life Conference that will be taking place in one week at The Bridge.  In addition to receiving some encouraging and insightful teaching on the family -- kids 0-12 will have a blast over at The Town and Country Sports Complex right across the street.

The cost for the entire event is a very family-friendly $25 per family.

See you Sunday!

Spirit-filled People Produce Good and Lasting Fruit

When conflict threatened the unity of church in Jerusalem, the Apostles called for the people to select from among their numbers seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom to provide oversight to the ministry of food distribution to the widows in the church (Acts 6:1-1-3).

Note that the criterion for leadership was not a matter of gifting, but of character, wisdom and of Holy Spirit fullness.

From the beginning, God's plan for His church is that ministry be carried out by people filled with, empowered by and under the influence of the Holy Spirit.  When this pattern is followed - good and lasting fruit is the result.

What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit and how does a person come into and remain in this state? These are questions we're addressing in The Spirit-filled Life series we kicked-off on January 5, 2014 and will continue this Sunday at The Bridge.  Don't miss this important series.
